About Us

     Bream Optometry has been serving the Santa Barbara county since 2004 with a highly trained staff, advanced equipment, and exceptional Doctors.

 

The practice is owned and run by Dr. Cory Bream and is conveniently located inside the Goleta Costco next to the optical center.  

 

Dr. Bream has established an affordable and accessible service that is trusted by the Santa Barbara community and surrounding cities.

Dr. Cory Bream

Dr. Cory Bream has owned and operated Bream Optometry inside Costco since 2004.  She is originally from Orange County, California where she graduated from Southern California College of Optometry( renamed Marshall B Ketchum University) in 1993.

 

As owner of Bream Optometry, a private practice, Dr. Bream has invested in only the most efficient and advanced technology available in order to provide her patients with excellent care and fabulous diagnostic tools. Her mission is to serve the Goleta and Santa Barbara communities with the best eye care possible by making it accurate, efficient, and affordable.

Since December of 2020, Dr Bream has owned and operated a private practice inside the Ventura County Costco in Oxnard, CA. There she has worked to create accessible eyecare to all those in the area. 

 

Dr. Bream is an active member in the community, enjoys traveling, sports, the outdoors, and most importantly being a mother to her two children and dog.

Dr. Carter Andersen

Dr. Carter Andersen is a 3rd generation native to the Santa Barbara area.  He attended San Marcos High School and UC Santa Barbara prior to earning his doctorate degree in optometry at Southern California College of Optometry.  He completed externships at the Veterans Affairs Hospital and SW Blind Rehabilitation Center in Tucson, Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, and The Laser Center in Seattle.  

He was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa honor society and has actively volunteered in providing vision care to underprivileged communities home and abroad through programs such as VOSH and RAM.  He is licensed to prescribe therapeutic agents, certified to treat glaucoma in patients over 18, and provides co-management for pre- and post- operative care for cataract and LASIK patients.

Dr Anderson splits his time between Bream Optometry Goleta and his own private practice on the area. When not at work, you are likely to find Dr Anderson surfing wherever the waves take him.

Dr. Monica Ramos

Dr. Ramos graduated in 2019 from Southern California School of Optometry and has since worked at the Oxnard Costco Optometry since December of 2020. The Southern California native completed her externships at VA Tucson, University Eye Center at Los Angeles, US Naval Medical Hospital in San Diego and Ketchum Health. During school Monica volunteered through SVOCH to help[ provide care to underprivileged communities. Dr. Ramos is very thankful for that program for giving her the opportunity to travel to places such as El Salvador to serve the community. 

Outside of work you might find Monica at a Laker or Dodger game, snowboarding, spending time with family, or anything else outdoors! Monica is excited to be working on the Bream Team to take care of those in our community!

Dr. John Krochmal

Dr. Krochmal, a Ventura County native, graduated in 2020 from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry and has been working at the Oxnard location since February of 2021. He completed his externships at Crownpoint IHS in New Mexico, Pacific Islands VA in Hawaii, and at the San Rafael Community Clinic. He also participated in service trips providing eye care to underserved communities in rural Nicaragua and Taiwan. He also belonged to the Betta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and received multiple scholarships for excellence in clinical practice. 

Outside of work he enjoys surfing, scuba diving, and traveling around the world. Dr. Krochmal is excited to be working on the Bream Team and providing care to those in the community.

Dr Sandra Chou

Dr. Chou grew up in Vancouver, and earned her B.S. in Biological Sciences at the University of British Columbia. She then pursued her Doctorate of Optometry at the prestigious UC Berkeley School of Optometry, where she was awarded scholarships for clinical excellence and graduated with honors.  

In addition to the UC Berkeley Eye Center, Dr. Chou has completed externships with strong emphasis in ocular disease at the Southern Oregon VA Rehabilitation Center, the Portland VA Medical Center, the UC Santa Cruz Health Center, and the UCSF-John Muir Berkeley Outpatient Clinic. Dr. Chou is also passionate about community outreach and has volunteered at various schools throughout the East Bay to provide vision screenings for pre K and elementary school children. 

In her free time, Dr. Chou enjoys travelling, photography, and going on adventures with her dog.

Dr Jay Neel

Dr Neel started the Costco Optometry office in Goleta in 1998 before going started a different private practice in 2004 when Dr Bream took over the Costco location. Jay, currently residing in Santa Barbara, has two boys in elementary school and has many hobbies including vintage motorcycles, fishing, camping, playing guitar, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Dr. Tony Sadighpour

Originally from Atlanta, Dr. Sadighpour completed his undergraduate education from Georgia Tech. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 2001. Tony moved to LA around 2005 and has been practicing in the surrounding areas since. Tony joined the Bream Optometry team in December of 2020 when we expanded to Oxnard. 

Outside of work, Dr. Sadighpour enjoys hiking, playing tennis, and spending time with his wife and two kids. Tony also loves the Lakers.

Dr. Rupert Chowins

Dr Chowins joined the Bream Optometry team in July of 2020 and has been working with us since. In addition to assisting Bream Optometry, Rupert works at San Luis Obispo Eye Associates.  Since 2006, he had been involved with Surgical Eye Missions of Guatemala with Hospital de La Familia. Dr Chowins has also served as an optometric clinic director for eye surgical mission trip to Hospitalito Santiago de Atitlan Guatemala since 2012. In 2009, he started the Noor Free Clinic, a free eye clinic in San Luis Obispo, serving the uninsured of the area and has been the eye clinic director since it opened. 

 

When not working, Dr Chowins enjoys hiking, biking, and kayaking with his wife Elizabeth in Los Osos and everywhere they travel together. 

Heather Alexander  (manager) 

She's baaaaaack. After her five year hiatus, Heather came back to the Bream Optometry team since 2021 as a (mostly) remote office manager. Heather is in charge of staff scheduling, insurance billing, and is our office administrator. Although, if you're lucky, you may see her working at either our Goleta or Oxnard location in the office. 

 

When not working you can find Heather water skiing or rowing in Mission Bay in San Diego, CA. Heather also enjoys crocheting, reading historical fiction, and is always looking for new shows to watch on Netflix or Hulu.

Susy Inda (Insurance Biller)

Susy has been part of our team for since 2015. She is one of our primary insurance billers and we are so glad to have had her around all this time! She loves spending time with family and going on trips with them whenever possible. She feels "blessed to be able to work with an amazing team that truly feels like family".

Andie Echevarria (Optometric Technician)

Andrea has been part of the Bream Optometry team since February of 2018. She keeps learning new stuff everyday with the help of the doctors and staff. She is also learning how to bill insurance! On her days off, she loves to spend time with her family and friends.

Denis Torres (Optometric Technician)

Denis joined Bream Optometry in March of 2019. She lives in Santa Barbara and enjoys going on walks with her boyfriend and her two dogs Castiel and Bella. She's happy to be part of the Bream Team! If Denis won the lottery she would use the winnings to buy a house with a big yard in Solvang.

Andy Nguyen (Optometric Technician)

Andy has been a part of our team since August of 2020. Andy graduated in the class of 2020 and will be attending UCSB as a biology major. Outside of work, Andy is a Dungeons and Dragons gamemaster, hiker, swimmer, and can read latin. If Andy could go anywhere in the world he would go to Vietnam or Mexico.

Riley Bream (Optometric Technician, website management)

Riley has been part of the team since June of 2019. Riley is currently at Westmont College studying neuroscience with the goal of working in the medical field, she's just not sure where yet. When Riley is not in the office, she enjoys spending time outside, going to concerts with her friends, and learning new things. If Riley could have any superpower it would be teleportation so she could save money and time that would be spent on flights!

Marilyn Cuytun (Optometric Technician)

Marilyn has worked at an Optometry office since February of 2015 but joined the Bream Team in December of 2020. Marilyn was one of the first people to work at our Oxnard location and we are so thankful to have had her to set up and get the new office running. Marilyn enjoys spending time with her friends and family and watching movies. She is also going to school to become an esthetician.

Patty Perez  (Optometric Technician)

Patty joined the Bream Optometry team in December of 2020 but has been working at the Costco Optometry in Oxnard since 2015. Patty was one of the first people to work at our Oxnard location and we are so thankful to have had her to set up and get the new office running. Patty is studying to work in medical field but isn't sure about the specifics yet. Patty also enjoys going on hikes and reading a good book.

Alexa Carrero (Optometric Technician)

Alexa has been a part of the Bream Optometry team since 2020. Based out of our Oxnard location, Alexa spends a lot of her time in the office billing insurances. She also loves to spend time at the beach, walking her dog, and spending time with her kids in her new apartment in LA. 

Katie Pham (Optometric Technician)

Katie has been a Bream Optometry since February 2021. She is currently a biology major at University California Santa Barbara and is expected to graduate in May of 2023. Katie enjoys going on road trips with her friends, playing tennis, and trying new brunch places. 

Daniela Flores (Optometric Technician)

Daniela has been a part of our team since April of 2021. She will graduate from Dos Pueblos High School is June of 2022 and is looking at colleges now. She is hoping to go into the medical field, specifically into dentistry. Outside of work Daniela enjoys spending time with her family and being involved in school activities. If Daniela could have one superpower it would be the ability to fly.

Marlene Hernandez (Optometric Technician)

Marlene has been a part of the team since March of 2022. As a recent college graduate, she joined our team to develop her skills in the medical setting as well as hone her interpersonal skills with patients and staff.  She enjoys gaining new knowledge and proficiency at new tasks. When she is not working, she is a busy mom chasing around her old baby.

Preet Desai (Optometric Technician)

Preet has been working with us since November of 2021. Preet is originally from Los Angeles, Ca and she is currently studying Biological Sciences at UCSB. In her free time, Preet likes to spend time at the beach woth her friends and family. If she could travel anywhere in the world, it would be Portugal or Greece. 

Diane Nguyen (Optometric Technician)

Diane Nguyen joined Bream Optometry as an optometric technician in April of 2022. She is currently a psychological & brain sciences major at UC Santa Barbara set to graduate in 2023. In her free time she enjoys going on hikes, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to new places! Her favorite part of living in Santa Barbara is going out to watch sunset with her roommates every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 

Esmeralda Flores Valencia (Optometric Technician)

Esmeralda has been working at our Oxnard location since April of 2021. She is excited to finally be working at a medical facility for humans rather than race horses. When not at work, she loves to spend time with her friends and family, including her retired race horse named Thunder Storm. If she could travel anywhere it would be to Kentucky during the derby. 

Alexis Garcia (Optometric Technician)

Alexis joined our Oxnard team in May of 2020, Her favorite thing to do in the office so far is eye steering on the optos. When Alexis is not at the office you will likely find her on the beach people and boat watching and soaking up the sun. If Alexis could travel anywhere in the world, it would be to Northern California during the gold rush to find gold!

Celeste Hellstrom (Optometric Technician)

Celeste began working with us in February of 2022 and is getting ready to graduate at the end of June 2022.   While in school, she is also an RA for her dorms and loves to interact with her residents and their friends. In her spare time she enjoys hiking and making elaborate balloon animals for childrens' parties as she once wanted to work as a circus clown when she was a kid.

Kiana Inda (Optometric Technician)

Kiana has been working at Bream Optometry in Goleta officially since June of 2022, but as a Bream Team baby she has been an honorary member since 2015. Kiana's academic goal is to get a degree in computer science and be able to code her own robot but she also hopes to complete 2 Iron Man competition before she turns 23. If Kiana had any super power it would be to grow and make disappear extra arms at will so she can get more stuff done!
